Sue Young is known throughout North Alabama for having a heart and
passion for making a difference in the lives of children. Her commitment
to children is especially evident in the Shoals, where numerous charities
and organizations have seen her commitment to children first hand
including the Shoals Area Association of REALTORS®.
On behalf of SAAR, she led the charge with several other volunteers to
help the Salvation Army raise funds to send children in the Shoals to
summer camp. In addition to helping raise summer camp funds for
children in need, she also assisted by promoting, selling tickets and
volunteering at the organization’s annual Empty Bowl luncheon where
proceeds help feed needy children in the Shoals. In December of 2016,
she assisted the association in ensuring that 190 Salvation Army Angels
were adopted through our association partnership, even adopting
several of those herself.
For the projects with the Salvation Army, Sidney’s Safe, the Boys and
Girls Club and Give A Kid A Chance, Sue organized volunteers to visit
every real estate office in our association and personally contacted
every member of our association to ensure everyone knew how they
could participate with these worthwhile projects. She organized a social
media blitz to help keep the children who benefit from these projects
fresh on the mind of each SAAR member.
Additionally, as chair of the SAAR Community Involvement Committee
she took the challenge from NAR President Tom Salomone to get
involved with our local Boys and Girls Club, donating countless hours to
the organization last year to help establish how the association could
best impact the lives of these children as part of our partnership. She
has been such an asset to the Boys and Girls Club in 2016, that she has
been asked to join their board in 2017.
Much of what Sue does is done in silence with no one realizing she
played a role. Her commitment to children is evident to everyone she
encounters. She was much deservingly awarded the Alabama
CHILDREN AWARD at our AAR Annual Conference in September.
Because of her dedication to our Association and her outstanding
achievements in 2016, it is our honor to congratulate the 2017
REALTOR® of the Year, Sue Young.
